Mucem – Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée








It is the first museum dedicated to the civilizations of the Mediterranean in the 21st century. Built as part of Marseille Provence - European Capital of Culture, the museum opens its doors on June 7, 2013. It is today one of the most visited museums in Marseille with nearly 2 million visitors per year.
The museum is divided into 3 distinct sites: J4, Fort St Jean and the last site, located at Belle de Mai: the Conservation and Resource Center (CCR). With its 3 sites, it offers nearly 40,000 m2 of space dedicated to the civilizations of the Mediterranean basin with nearly a million works.
At its heart, 3600 m² of exhibition space on two levels to present the major MUCEM events.
MUCEM is open every day except Tuesday.
The opening hours are modified according to the periods of the year:

From November 5 to April 30: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

May 2 to July 6: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

July 7 to September 2: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

September 3 to November 4: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Remember to take your tickets for the MUCEM at the ticket office to avoid the queues. The rates are € 9.50 and € 5 reduced rate.
