Le Panier

Le Panier refers to a district of Marseille located in the 2nd arrondissement, shared between three administrative districts:

• City Hall

• The Grands-Carmes

• La Joliette

From the second half of the 19th century, this district became the gateway for immigrant populations to Marseille, especially Italians, Corsicans and then Maghrebians.

In recent years, under the effect of the rehabilitations and the establishment of cultural places, Le Panier has become a tourist district renowned for its great diversity of Street Art.

I advise you to start your visit of the district at the rue Baussenque where you will then have the possibility of strolling in the various alleys in order to admire the many urban works of art.
